I firmly believe that you should be passionate about your work and that it should be more than getting a paycheck. For these reasons, I decided to leave Wingz and search for something more meaningful in three specific fields dear to my heart.
Climate Change
Sports & Communications
Branding
I have always been aware of climate change but two recent trips to Iceland ignited a desire to raise awareness about the opportunities brought by this issue.
After doing some research, I realized that there were so many startups doing an amazing and very inspiring job in the energy sector, in helping clean up the ocean, or removing carbon from the atmosphere, etc.
However, their work is hidden and I'd love to help them ramp up their marketing and branding efforts to bring their incredible innovations to more people.
I started covering the NBA because I wanted to go behind the scene. Talking to the players, picking a coach's brain on a coverage, or listening to legends' anecdotes, for me going to the source was the best way to make sense of what I'd see on the court.
Today, I want to go deeper in my love for sports and communication by helping players develop their brand, their voice, but also helping them maximize their platform to take powerful stands.
Sure, the Nikes and Under Armours of the world are appealing but what about going off the beaten path and electing to partner with a company that uses plastic from the ocean to build their apparels and shoes? How about promoting healthy drinks instead of settling with Coca-cola?
Hearing from the protagonists directly is always more powerful. Ventures like The Players Tribune or Uninterrupted are taking advantage of that, and I believe this is only the beginning of a new wave of media empowering athletes.
I am curious.
Climate change, sports, AI, VR, health, writing, art, photography, music, education and the list goes on and on and on.
I found that working for one company has its advantages but my many interests are pushing me to look at branding/marketing/design agencies. I love discovering new products, new teams, diving in on one industry for a few weeks, and then move on to the next projects.
I'm intrigued and would love the opportunity to give it a try.
