Wingz
I joined Wingz as employee #1 to support the four co-founders.
There was no office, no cool perks, no-nonsense. Things needed to be done. I did not care that my title was marketing and communications manager, I thrived wearing different hats. In my first year, I was a copywriter, a designer, a content creator, a data analyst, a strategist, a social media guru, an ad creator, a PR guy, a customer support agent, a driver manager, a business development specialist and more.
It was worth every moment because we were building a community. Riders and drivers loved the Wingz experience, and soon after investors did too. Our hard work helped us raise series A & B funding rounds.
With some budget and a growing team, I focused on what I really love doing, building the brand. Below are examples of projects, big and small, I owned over my 4+ years at Wingz.
Role: Project & creative lead | Creative Partner: Fuzzco
We partnered with Fuzzco (Portland, OR) to rethink our brand identity and highlight our singularity in an industry dominated by Lyft and Uber. The modernized wing embodies the trust and relationship between our riders, our drivers, and our team, as well as the reliability of our service.
Scope of work included: visual identity, website design, messaging, and positionning.
Role: Brief & project lead, copywriter | Creative Partner: Chocollective
We made this video to complete our rebranding effort and to present the Wingz experience to prospective riders. In a world where everyone is glued to their phone, scheduling your Wingz allows you to focus on what really matters.
We used this video on social, in ads, and as a background to our website homepage.
Role: Brief & project lead, copywriter | Creative Partner: Fuzzco | Goal: Brand awareness
This video was part of an integrated marketing campaign (social, digital, in-flight and in-airport) to target frequent travelers. The ad was played directly after Virgin's safety video on all flights serving Wingz' markets.
Role: Project lead & Art director | Goal: Brand awareness
Airport advertising was one aspect of our new market launch strategy. We ran campaigns at Oakland, San Diego, LAX, Austin, and Dallas airports.
Role: Project lead & Art Director | Partners: Caritas (Austin), Meals on Wheels (Houston & Dallas)
Having a positive impact on society should be a goal for every company. That was the reason behind our partnership with Caritas and Meals on Wheels in Austin, Houston, and Dallas, and the core message of our integrated marketing campaigns (social, digital, print, guerilla) to launch these new markets.
Role: Editorial lead
Whether it is to educate customers, state company values, or highlight the rider - driver relationship, we built many pieces of original content over the years. We used it on our blog, social media, and email campaigns. Below are some examples.
Fixed and Fair: Why Our Rides are Flat-Rate | A Service Stimulus: Why Our Drivers Rule | Scheduled & Stress-Free: Why We Pre-Book Rides | What it Takes To Become a Wingz Driver | Wingz Traveler Stories: The Wedding Wingz | We’re here to help
Role: Project lead | Agency: LMGPR
By ourselves, or with the help of LMGPR, we secured multiple placements in local and national outlets.
